Sankara Eye Foundation India Sets Asia Book of Records Milestone for Maximum Free Eye Surgeries

Mumbai, May 22, 2026: Sankara Eye Foundation India has been recognized by the Asia Book of Records for conducting the Maximum Free Eye Surgeries Under a Single Vision Programme by an Organization. The recognition marks a significant milestone in the foundation’s mission to eliminate avoidable blindness across India.From March 2004 to March 31, 2026, the foundation provided free eye care services to nearly 30 lakh patients through its large-scale humanitarian initiatives, restoring vision and improving the quality of life for underserved communities across the country. The initiative was undertaken with a commitment to making quality eye care accessible to all, irrespective of socio-economic background, while also inspiring healthcare institutions and organizations to undertake similar impactful programmes.Founded on the principle of compassionate and affordable healthcare, Sankara Eye Foundation India today operates through a robust network of eye hospitals and outreach centres across the country. The organization currently performs close to 1,000 eye surgeries every day through its 14 locations spread across 10 states, combining scale with high standards of clinical excellence.Commenting on the achievement, Dr. R. The organization currently maintains a database of over 40,000 record entries and follows internationally recognized protocols for record verification.Over the years, Sankara Eye Foundation India has continued to strengthen its outreach initiatives through free eye screening camps, cataract surgeries, pediatric ophthalmology programmes, and community-driven awareness initiatives aimed at preventing avoidable blindness.
